Perhaps not everyone knows that on Mount Etna wine is regularly sold and enjoyed “sfuso” (in bulk), and it is precisely from this tradition that the idea was born: to celebrate a long-standing custom in a reimagined version—by bottling a wine that recalls and honors this heritage while making it accessible to all.
Sfuso di Anna is made primarily from estate-grown fruit: 85% Nerello Mascalese, 5% Nerello Cappuccio, 5% Grenache, and the remaining 5% a blend of local white grapes (Carricante, Grecanico, Catarratto).
Vinification takes place in the estate’s palmento, in qvevri, and in a 30 hl open-top wooden fermenter. The wine matures in large-format chestnut and oak casks, as well as in stainless steel. Before bottling, a small amount of SO₂ is added to ensure stability.
Crimson red in color, it offers aromas of dark cherry, plum, and spice, with a lovely floral note. Medium-bodied, the palate is balanced, savory, and juicy in structure, with lingering notes of cherry and cardamom. A wine ready to drink now, challenging the idea that bulk wine is of mediocre quality.
