Owned for three generations by the Miklus family, the Draga winery is located in one of the areas considered most suited to viticulture: the Collio.
The vineyard covers 15 hectares at an altitude of about 300 meters and is divided into two plots: Draga and Breg. The vines are trained using the cappuccina and Guyot systems and grow on a soil locally known as ponka, composed of Eocene-origin sandstone marl and rich in microelements, which give the wines aroma, elegance, and minerality.
The vineyard is fully grass-covered and managed with the utmost respect for the environment, without the use of herbicides. Yields per hectare are very low to ensure maximum grape quality. In keeping with tradition, most vineyard work is carried out by hand.
Aging and maturation: about 7 months in contact with the lees in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine is then filtered and bottled.
Vinification: the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed, cooled to 8–10°C, and left to macerate in contact with the skins for 24 hours. After soft pressing, alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures between 16 and 18°C.
The color is straw yellow. On the nose, it shows a broad, very complex and distinctive bouquet with notes of nutmeg, syrupy peach, and apricot. On the palate, tropical fruit emerges, very persistent, mineral, fine, and harmonious. It pairs well with cheeses, including aged varieties, fried fish, lobster, and white meats.
