100% Chardonnay
Production area: Les Crêtes in Aymavilles, Frissonnière in Saint Christophe.
Soil type: Morainic soils with a granitic matrix, loose (over 50% sand, medium silt and limestone content, rich in stones), on sloped terrain. Terraced vineyards facing south, southeast, and northeast, at an altitude of 600–800 meters above sea level.
Vinification: Whole-cluster gentle pressing with prior cooling of the grapes, followed by a 12-day fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (14°C).
Bottle aging: 3 months “sur lies” (on the lees) aging.
The winery: Les Crêtes was founded in 1989 in Aymavilles (Aosta Valley) by Costantino Charrère, and is now run by his family. Their wines are a tribute to heroic viticulture — a niche production nurtured by the Alps.
A mineral and varietal Chardonnay. Its mountain character, shaped by the terroir, makes it unmistakable for its marked freshness. Bright straw yellow. On the nose, delicate and floral with notes of banana and plum. On the palate, soft, savory, and mineral.
Recommended pairings: Cured meats and cheeses, refined first courses. Also ideal as an aperitif.
